PAIN AND SUFFERING
YOUTUBE VIDEOS [Christian & Secular] ABOUT PAIN AND SUFFERING:
SCRIPTURE VERSES ABOUT SUFFERING:
And he began to
teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and
be killed, and after three days rise again (Mark 8:31).
For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven,
shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things,
and be rejected of this generation (Luke 17:24-25).
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were
counted worthy to suffer shame for his name (Acts 5:41).
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory
by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you (1 Peter 5:10).
And
not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience,
hope: (Romans 5:3-4).
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then
heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together (Romans
8:16-17).
If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer
all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ (1 Corinthians 9:12).
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort
them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound
in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation [Greek, paraklesis,
imploration, solace, exhortation, to invite, to call near] and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings
which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation (2 Corinthians 1:3-6).
And whether
we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also
suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation (2 Corinthians 1:6).
For I reckon that the sufferings
of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Romans 8:18).
The LORD is nigh
unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the LORD delivereth him out of them all (Psalms 34:18-19).
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to
believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake (Philippians 1:29).
Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God,
that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense
tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven
with his mighty angels (2 Thessalonians 1:5-7).
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny
us (2 Timothy 2:12).
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all
the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:10-12).
Choosing
rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25).
For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do
evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye suffer for righteousness'
sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled (1 Peter 3:12-14).
Wherefore let them that suffer
according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator (1 Peter 4:19).
I
know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are
not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of
you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a
crown of life (Revelation 2:9-10).
BIBLICAL STRATEGIES FOR DEALING WITH SUFFERING:
Having Patience-
But that
on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience (Luke
8:15).
In your patience possess ye your souls (Luke 21:19).
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of
God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience;
and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is
given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly (Romans 5:1-6).
For we are
saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we
see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:24-26).
Butin all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes,
in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by
the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned (2 Corinthians 6:4-6).
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all
patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Colossians 1:11).
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet,
because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; So that we ourselves
glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure (2 Thessalonians
1:3-4).
And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be
not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:11-12).
Wherefore seeing we
also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset
us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for
the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews
12:1-2).
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh
patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:2-4).
Whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue
knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness charity (2 Peter 1:4-7).
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit
is better than the proud in spirit (Ecclesiastes 7:8).
Trusting The Lord-
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and
not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation (Isaiah 12:2).
Thou wilt keep
him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH
is everlasting strength (Isaiah 26:3-4).
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his
heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies
(Psalms 112:7-8).
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing
as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God (2 Corinthians 3:4-5).
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice
in thy salvation (Psalms 13:5).
Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as
turn aside to lies (Psalms 40:4).
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as
the light, and thy judgment as the noonday (Psalms 37:4-6).
Seeking The Lord-
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD
thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all
these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which
he sware unto them (Deuteronomy 4:29-31).
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek
him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter
days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not
forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them (Deuteronomy 4:29-31).
Seek
the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the
judgments of his mouth (1 Chronicles 16:11-12).
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side?
for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring
the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD (1 Chronicles
22:18-19).
