CHRIST IS OUR EXAMPLE OF OBEDIENCE TO GOD THE FATHER
“If any man will do his will, he shall know
of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that
seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him” (John 7:17-18).
“Then said Jesus unto them,
When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught
me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please
him” (John 8:28-29).
“If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the
works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him” (John 10:37-38).
“For I have not spoken of myself;
but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak” (John 12:49).
“Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that
dwelleth in me, he doeth the works” (John 14:10).
“For I [Jesus Christ] have given unto them the words which thou [God the Father] gavest
me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me” (John
17:8).
“Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,
which God did by him [Christ] in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know” (Acts 2:22).
“Though he were a Son, yet learned
he obedience by the things which he suffered” (Hebrews 5:8).
“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of
a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto
death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:7-8).
“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister [serve],
and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).
“For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the
same is my brother, and sister, and mother” (Matthew 12:50).

PLEAD MY CAUSE, O LORD
“A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that
fight against me (Psalms 35:1). For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for
my soul. Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let
him fall. And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto
thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? False
witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge thin gs that I knew not. They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own
bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. But
in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I
knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not. With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. Lord, how
long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. I will give thee thanks in the great congregation:
I will praise thee among much people. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the
eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it, This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence:O Lord, be not far from me. Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord
(Psalms 35:7-23).
WHOSOEVER SHALL CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, GOD DWELLETH IN HIM
"In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God,
but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one
another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know
we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent
the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in
him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love him, because he first loved us"
(1 John 4:9-19).
"Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him
that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou?
or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth? Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come
concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my
hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded"
(Isaiah 45:9-12).
MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME, OH LORD MY SALVATION
“I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. For my loins
are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of
the disquietness of my heart. Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. My heart panteth, my strength
faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen
stand afar off. They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine
deceits all the day long. But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. Thus I was as a man
that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs. For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. For I said, hear
me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me. For I am ready to halt,
and my sorrow is continually before me. For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. But mine enemies are lively,
and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because
I follow the thing that good is. Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation”
(Psalms
38:6-22).
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he
will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”
(Deuteronomy 31:6).
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first
commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater
than these"
(Mark 12:29-31).
