BELIEVERS IN CHRIST SHOULD SUBMIT TO ALL EARTHLY AUTHORITY
Pertinent Verses:
Honour thy father
and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee (Exo 20:12).
And the man that will
do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge,
even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously (Deu
17:12-13).
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Mat 28:18-20).
But I would
have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God (1 Cor 11:3).
Submitting
yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is
the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject
unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church,
and gave himself for it (Eph 5:21-25).
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear
and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing
the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any
man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing
threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him (Eph 6:5-9).
Wives, submit
yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children,
obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be
discouraged. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness
of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men (Col 3:18-23).
Let every soul be
subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth
the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror
to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the
same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in
vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not
only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually
upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear;
honour to whom honour (Rom 13:1-7).
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving
of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness
and honesty (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women
as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity (1 Timothy 5:1-2).
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's
sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers,
and for the praise of them that do well (1 Peter 2:13-14).
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted
in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters
ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,
giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not
hindered. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous (1 Peter 3:5-8).
Obey
them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they
may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you (Heb 13:17).
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of
man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment
of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance
of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love
the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but
also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory
is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again;
when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his
own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as
sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls (1 Peter 2:13-25).
Likewise, ye younger,submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud,
and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (1 Peter
5:5-6).
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).
Put them in mind tobe subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers,
but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men (Titus 3:1-2).

GOD ALSO GAVE THEM UP TO UNCLEANNESS
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness
of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which
may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto
them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even his eternal power and Godhead;
so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified
him not as God,
neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations,
and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise,
they
became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made
like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted
beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness [impurity] through the lusts of
their own hearts, to
dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed
the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more
than
the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up
unto vile [shameful, dishonorable] affections:for even their women did change
the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving
the natural use
of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with
men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that
recompence
of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in
their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate
[rejected, worthless] mind, to
do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all
unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness,
covetousness, maliciousness; full
of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters
of God, despiteful, proud,
boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection,
implacable,
unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which
commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have
pleasure
in them that do them”
(Romans 1:18-32).
“But now hath he [Christ] obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which
was established upon better promises. or if that first had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For
finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah”
(Hebrews 8:6-8).
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things
are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things”
