GIVING GOD CREDIT
Do we humans give God enough credit for who He is, as well as for what He does
[and doesn't do]? The truthful answer is, “probably not.” Below are some scripture verses which encourage us to humbly and prayerfully
give Him credit for who He is and what He does:
thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me
this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his
covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk
after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish (Deuteronomy 8:17-19).
For
who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou
glory, as if thou hadst not received it? (1 Corinthians 4:7).
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was
bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me (1
Corinthians 15:10).
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge
him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy
navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase (Proverbs 3:5-9).
Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse
your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to
mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up (James 4:7-10).
Therefore
I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put
on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap,
nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can
add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not,
neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if
God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye
of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:25-33).
So shalt
thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine
own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and
depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits
of all thine increase (Proverbs 3:4-9).
...keep the charge [watch, safeguard] of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep
his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest
prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself (1 Kings 2:3).
There shall not any man be able to stand
before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee (Joshua
1:5).
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea,I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10).
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in
the sight of God and man.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase (Proverbs 3:4-9).
I
can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts
shall be established (Proverbs 16:3).
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according
to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen (Ephesians
3:20-21).
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase (1 Corinthians
3:7).
LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us. O LORD our God, other lords beside
thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name (Isaiah 26:12-13).
God that made the world
and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped
with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood
all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their
habitation (Acts 17:24-26).
The LORD looketh from heaven; [we see and understand that] he beholdeth all the sons of men. From
the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth (Psalms 33:13-14).
A Psalm of David. [We must recognize
that] The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein (Psalms 24:1).
For every beast
of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field
are mine (Psalms 50:10-11).
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let
all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. The LORD bringeth
the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,
the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for
his own inheritance (Psalms 33:6-12).
Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:16-17).
For in him
we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then
as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's
device (Acts 17:28-29).
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his
saints: for there is no want to them that fear him (Psalms 34:8-9).
Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God,I will exalt thee. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever (Psalms 118:28-29).
