FIVE BIBLICAL COMMANDS REGARDING THE SPIRIT
There are only 5 commands related to the believer and
the Holy Spirit:
Quench [Greek, bennumi, to extinguish literally or figuratively, or to cause to go out] not the Spirit (1 Thessalonians
5:19).
And grieve [Greek, lupeo, to distress, to cause to be sad, grieve, cause to be in heaviness, or make sorry] not the holy
Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk [Greek, stoicheo, to range in regular line, to march, rank, or to conform to virtue and piety] in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25).
But ye,
beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying [Greek, proseuchomai, to pray to God, supplicate, worship, or to
wish to God] in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20).
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled [Greek, pleroo, to make
replete, to cram, level up, to finish, to satisfy, to accomplish, to fill up, or to fully preach] with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
THE CHRISTIAN HERALD
A
Judeo-Christian Bible Study
“Be careful for nothing; but in
every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be
made known unto God.
And the
peace of God,
which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever
things are true, whatsoever things
are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things
are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things
are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
these things”
(Philippians 4:8).
Now I beseech you, brethren,
mark them which cause divisions
and offences contrary to the
doctrine which ye have learned;
and avoid
them. For they that
are such serve not our Lord
Jesus Christ, but their own belly;
and by good words and fair speeches
deceive the heartsof the simple
(Romans 16:17-18).
"How much more shall the blood
of Christ, who through the eternal
Spirit offered himself without spot
to God, purge your conscience
from
dead works to serve the living God?”
(Hebrews 9:14)
“The LORD bless thee, and
keep thee: The LORD make his
face shine upon thee, and be
gracious unto thee: The LORD
lift up his countenance
upon
thee, and give thee peace”
(Numbers 6:24-26).
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination [Hebrew, toebah, something morally disgusting, an abhorrence,
idolatry]. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie
down thereto: it is confusion"
(Leviticus 18:22-23).
